Staff have very high expectations and provide strong support, with particular strengths in reading support and helping pupils with attendance issues. The school offers a rich range of opportunities for pupils to develop leadership skills and explore their interests through clubs, sports, music and community involvement.
Key Strengths
- Excellent behaviour and relationships between pupils and staff, with disruption to lessons rare and never tolerated
- Ambitious, carefully designed curriculum with strong subject knowledge from teachers
- Exceptional enrichment offer including sports, music, dance, gardening and leadership roles
- Effective support for pupils with low literacy skills through targeted phonics help
- Strong focus on personal development with philosophical discussion sessions and comprehensive careers guidance from Year 7
Areas for Improvement
- In some subjects, teachers do not consistently check pupils' understanding, so misconceptions are sometimes missed and pupils don't build knowledge as securely as they could
