What This School Does Well

Reddal Hill is a warm, inclusive school where your child will feel genuinely cared for and valued as an individual. The staff work exceptionally hard to support pupils with complex needs and those joining the school at different times, helping them settle quickly and feel part of the community. Beyond academics, your child will benefit from a rich range of clubs, trips, music lessons and leadership roles that help develop confidence and broaden their interests.

Key Strengths

  • Strong pastoral care and welcoming ethos that helps all pupils, especially those arriving mid-year or from difficult circumstances, feel safe and valued
  • Effective early years provision with clear curriculum links to Year 1 and focus on communication and language
  • Thoughtful identification of pupil needs and swift access to external expertise including educational psychologists and speech therapists
  • Rich personal development offer including sports, music, arts and leadership opportunities
  • Warm relationships and good behaviour throughout the school with rare bullying

Areas for Improvement

  • Inconsistent classroom assessment and teaching that does not always match pupil starting points closely enough, particularly for pupils with SEND
  • Attendance rates not improving quickly enough despite leaders' efforts and strong relationships with families
  • Improved reading, writing and maths not yet reflected in published national test data
  • Phonics teaching not yet as consistent as it could be, especially in early years
  • Too many pupils still not reaching expected standards by the time they leave school

Safeguarding

Safeguarding standards are met - leaders have established an open culture where safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, concerns are actively identified and managed, and pupils are made safer and feel safe.

Extracurricular Activities

Football, rock band, woodwind lessons, brass lessons, ukulele lessons, school council, eco-council, arts ambassador roles, clubs, trips, special events

Reddal Hill Primary School is a welcoming and inclusive school where leaders have established clear priorities around phonics, writing, and consistency in teaching. The school provides strong pastoral support and has created a nurturing environment, particularly for pupils with complex needs and those joining mid-year.
