Personal development and wellbeing - Expected standard. "Leaders prioritise pupils' personal development and wellbeing."

Post 16 provision - Expected standard. "Leaders ensure that the post-16 provision offers a warm, supportive and ambitious environment, where students are prepared well for their next steps."

Safeguarding standards were met.

Ofsted's next steps for the school: "Leaders should ensure that teachers identify and address gaps in pupils' knowledge consistently well across all subjects, so that pupils secure and deepen their knowledge and achieve highly"; "Leaders should further develop their systems for monitoring and quality assurance so they evaluate more precisely the effectiveness of their actions, and take appropriate steps to ensure a high degree of consistency across all aspects of the school's work".

In 2026, pupils at Marriotts School averaged an Attainment 8 score of 41.8, the average grade across their best eight GCSEs. The average state school scored 50.6 in Hertfordshire and 47 across England.

34% passed English and maths at grade 5 or above, against 53% in Hertfordshire and 47% in England.

That is in line with 2025, when the score was 42.4.

For September 2026 entry, 297 families put Marriotts School as their first choice and 653 named it as one of their preferences, for 221 places offered. That is 1.3 first choices for every place. 87 families who put it first were not offered a place there.

110 parents answered Ofsted's Parent View survey about Marriotts School (as of April 2026): 79% would recommend the school, 71% say their child is happy there and 47% of those with a view say bullying is dealt with well.

The strongest agreement was that their child feels safe (80%); the weakest, that the school deals with bullying well (among parents with a view) (47%).

Of the 221 pupils who finished Year 11 in 2023/24, 84% stayed in education or training for at least two terms, including 38% to a further education college, 3% to an apprenticeship and 5% into work.

Of the 145 students who left the sixth form in 2023/24, 44% went on to university or other higher education, 10% to apprenticeships and 29% into work. 5% went to one of the most selective third of universities.

The nearest railway station is Stevenage Railway Station, about 1.3 miles away in a straight line.

In August 2026, police recorded 295 crimes within a mile of the school, most often violence and sexual offences, anti-social behaviour and other theft. That is well above the typical figure around schools in Hertfordshire (138), as is usual near a town centre.
