Ofsted Insights

What This School Does Well

Inclusion Hampshire excels at supporting learners with complex needs to attend college regularly and engage with their learning through highly individualised support. The college provides excellent, workplace-realistic learning environments and equipment that help young people develop practical skills and ambition. Staff work effectively with employers and support services to prepare learners for employment and positive next steps after college.

Key Strengths

  • Significant improvement in learners' attendance and punctuality through specialist support staff and individualised help for families
  • High-quality learning environments and resources that match real-world workplace settings (e.g., sound engineering equipment)
  • Strong careers advice and work experience programme with local employers and stakeholders
  • Good teaching activities that help learners develop knowledge and skills
  • Clear targets set from learners' education, health and care plans

Areas for Improvement

  • Staff do not consistently provide useful feedback to help learners correct and improve their work
  • Assessment of learners' wider knowledge and skills (outside English and maths) is not thorough enough, so teaching is not adapted well in other subject areas
  • Some targets in learners' plans are too broad, making it unclear what steps learners need to take to succeed
  • Staff have not had consistent opportunities to develop their teaching and assessment skills

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is effective - leaders have put in place useful training to help learners understand how to protect themselves from radicalisation, extremism and online risks, with frequent revisiting of these topics.

Extracurricular Activities

Sound engineering performances in local community events, work experience placements, employer talks and visits

Inclusion Hampshire is an independent specialist college in Hampshire working with 16-25 year olds with complex needs including autism, ADHD, and mental health difficulties. The college provides education, training and support to help young people prepare for adult life and employment.
