Gunter Primary School has excellent leadership that is driving continuous improvement and has successfully tackled previous weaknesses in reading and writing. The school excels at supporting all learners, including disadvantaged pupils and the most able, ensuring they make good progress. Pupils feel happy and safe, with a calm learning environment where behaviour is good and bullying is rare.

Areas for Improvement
- Some lower-ability and lower-ability disadvantaged pupils are not making expected progress in spelling, vocabulary understanding and reading comprehension
- A small group of lower-ability pupils in Year 1 are not confidently using phonics skills to support reading and spelling
- Continued focus needed on raising standards in reading and writing to match previous areas of weakness
