What This School Does Well
Grendon Primary is a welcoming school where children flourish in a respectful, safe environment. Teachers make learning exciting through interesting lessons and investigation topics, and the school goes the extra mile to ensure disadvantaged pupils are fully included in all activities and trips. Pupils develop strong character alongside their academic skills, learning to work collaboratively, respect others' ideas, and understand how to stay safe.
Key Strengths
- Outstanding behaviour and safety - pupils are courteous, polite and have excellent understanding of how to keep safe
- Good progress in reading, writing and mathematics from starting points, with some pupils working above age-related expectations
- Enthusiastic teachers with good subject knowledge who make lessons interesting and exciting
- Strong leadership that rigorously checks pupil progress and quickly identifies and supports any at risk of falling behind
- Effective use of pupil premium funding to narrow gaps for disadvantaged pupils
Areas for Improvement
- Most-able pupils do not always make progress as rapidly as they could in some lessons
- Pupils identifying how they can improve their work is not used consistently across all classes
- New assessment system for the curriculum has not yet been fully implemented throughout the school
