This school excels at creating a caring, respectful environment where children love learning - parents report their children return home 'buzzing' about what they've learned. Teaching in reading and writing is particularly strong, with engaging literature-based activities throughout the school. The early years provision is outstanding, preparing children exceptionally well for Key Stage 1.

- Mathematics progress lags behind reading and writing, with insufficient challenge and problem-solving opportunities
- Most able pupils not making enough progress in mathematics
- Presentation of pupils' work needs improvement - few use joined handwriting or rulers as standard
- Communication between school and home could be improved, particularly around timetables and curriculum planning
- Some governors have not yet developed links with subject leaders to deepen their understanding
