What This School Does Well

Danetree is a relentlessly ambitious school where pupils achieve exceptionally well, especially those with SEND or who are disadvantaged. Teachers identify exactly what pupils need to work on next and provide expert support. The school also offers an impressive range of enrichment activities - from residential trips to theatre groups - designed to challenge pupils and help them explore their talents.

Key Strengths

  • Strong teaching of English and mathematics with excellent support for weaker readers and those with SEND - pupils develop exceptional accuracy in number work and confident writing skills
  • Broad and ambitious vocabulary development across the curriculum, supported by visits and special events that deepen understanding
  • Highly effective work to improve attendance, with persistent absence significantly reduced
  • Comprehensive enrichment programme including residential trips, clubs, drama groups and design experiences, made accessible to all pupils through careful use of additional funding
  • Caring and supportive school culture where pupils feel safe and confident talking to staff about concerns

Areas for Improvement

  • Some pupils do not show consistently high levels of respect for others, with variations in how well the school's behaviour expectations are established in practice - the school should continue engaging parents, pupils and staff to ensure all meet behaviour standards

Safeguarding

Safeguarding arrangements are effective, with staff alert to identifying and meeting pupils' needs swiftly and the school providing support for pupils dealing with anxiety.

Extracurricular Activities

Drama clubs with local theatre groups, baking workshops, nursery garden planting, hands-on historical artefact experiences, residential trips, heart dissection activities, design-and-make days

Danetree Primary School has successfully maintained its outstanding standards. Pupils thrive in their learning and achieve exceptionally well, particularly disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND.
