What This School Does Well

The school provides a smaller, more supportive learning environment that helps many pupils significantly improve their behaviour and attendance. Staff care genuinely about their pupils and help them manage emotions and attitudes towards learning effectively.
Key Strengths

- Improved curriculum design that is now more ambitious and better structured across subjects
- Effective support for reading with individual sessions helping pupils gain confidence
- Good attendance improvements for most pupils due to positive pastoral relationships
- Effective safeguarding arrangements in place
Areas for Improvement
- Teaching quality is inconsistent - staff do not always adapt lessons effectively to address gaps in pupils' knowledge and misconceptions
- Limited enrichment opportunities and wider experiences for pupils, particularly those on short-term placements
- Staff lack specific training and knowledge needed to support certain types of SEND effectively
- Inconsistent pupil experience across the school in terms of education quality
- Staff need training on the school's phonics scheme for reading
Safeguarding
Safeguarding arrangements are effective and the school has created a positive culture around pupil safety and wellbeing.
