What This School Does Well
Bridge House School has successfully transformed its approach to teaching and learning since March 2025. The school now has clear, well-planned curriculum with staff trained to meet the specific needs of every pupil, particularly those with autism and social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Teachers use a range of effective strategies and supportive equipment to help pupils engage successfully, and all pupils receive personalised support linked to their EHC plan targets.
Key Strengths
- Comprehensive schemes of work now in place for all subjects with clear learning objectives and sequencing
- Staff receive ongoing training to deliver curriculum effectively and adapt learning activities to individual pupil needs
- Strong phonics programme with early reading interventions - all staff trained and pupils assessed on entry
- EHC plan targets are now integral to the taught curriculum for all pupils
- Effective use of supportive strategies and apparatus to help pupils engage and learn

Safeguarding arrangements are effective with a suitable and up-to-date safeguarding policy in place that promotes pupil welfare.
Bridge House School is an independent special school for pupils aged 11-18 with autism and social, emotional and mental health needs. Following areas of concern identified in March 2025, the school has made rapid progress and now meets all independent school standards that were checked.
