Whiston is a happy school where pupils enjoy learning and feel valued. The early years is particularly outstanding, with young children developing a real thirst for learning through well-planned activities. Teachers have strong subject knowledge and the school offers plenty of enriching experiences including trips, visitors, and opportunities for pupils to take on meaningful responsibilities.

- Teachers do not consistently check what pupils know in all subjects, so work sometimes does not match pupils' understanding
- Behaviour in some lessons is inconsistent, with some pupils disengaged or off task
- More work needed to ensure staff share and implement high expectations of behaviour consistently
