In its own words: "West Street was built in 1907 originally providing education right through to 15 years of age. It now houses a Nursery that takes children from 3 years old for up to 15 hours per week, Reception class (4-5 year olds), Key Stage 1 classes (5-7year olds) and Key Stage 2 classes (7-11 years old)."

From the headteacher's welcome: "I believe that the role of a primary school should be to create in all its children a lifelong love of learning that will carry them through the transition from nursery to primary school, on to secondary school and beyond, giving them the best possible foundation for their working lives."

In 2025, 62% of Year 6 pupils at West Street Community Primary School reached the expected standard in reading and 62% in maths. At the average state primary the figures were 75% and 74% in Lancashire and 77% and 75% across England.
