What This School Does Well

Wallop Primary School is a warm, nurturing environment where pupils are genuinely happy and well-behaved. The school has high expectations and works determinedly to support all learners, especially those with additional needs or disadvantages. Staff know pupils really well and provide thoughtful, targeted support to help every child access the curriculum and make progress.

Key Strengths

  • High attendance and punctuality, with pupils understanding that 'every learning minute matters'
  • Pupils feel safe and trust adults; safeguarding culture is open and positive
  • Strong support for pupils with additional needs and disadvantaged pupils, with gaps narrowing over time
  • Recent improvements to reading and phonics teaching, with pupils showing enthusiasm for reading
  • Well-planned curriculum delivered effectively with clear routines and positive behaviour throughout the school

Areas for Improvement

  • Achievement in English remains variable - some pupils do not secure correct letter formation, accurate spelling and secure phonics knowledge
  • Reading outcomes in national tests are too low, though early improvements are underway
  • Staff do not always identify errors in pupils' work in a timely way, allowing mistakes to persist
  • In early years, staff do not always identify what children know and can do quickly enough
  • Some pupils with SEND and disadvantaged pupils were previously underrepresenting in extra-curricular activities

Safeguarding

Safeguarding standards are met; the school has established an open culture in which safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and pupils are made safer and feel safe.

Extracurricular Activities

Construction clubs, dodgeball, lunchtime clubs, local sports competitions, museum visits, visits from fire service and NSPCC

Wallop Primary School is a welcoming school serving a large military community where pupils are happy and behave well. The school has made recent improvements to curriculum and teaching, though pupils' academic outcomes in some areas remain below expected levels.
