What This School Does Well

This is a happy, caring school where every pupil is exceptionally well known and supported. Leaders work tirelessly to help disadvantaged pupils and those with additional needs, providing training for staff to meet individual needs effectively. The school has a strong community spirit with excellent relationships between staff and pupils based on kindness and respect.

  • Strong safeguarding culture where pupils feel safe and leaders actively manage concerns
  • Excellent inclusion and support for disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs
  • Well-embedded phonics programme helping more pupils develop early reading skills
  • Positive behaviour management with high expectations - pupils are respectful and cooperative
  • Strong relationships between staff and pupils built on kindness and trust

Areas for Improvement

  • Teaching is not consistently good across all subjects and classes - expectations are sometimes too low
  • Too many pupils, especially disadvantaged pupils, have poor attendance which impacts their learning
  • Pupils have not been well prepared for the next stage of their education
  • Handwriting needs more focus to help pupils form letters accurately from the start
  • Curriculum delivery needs to be more consistent across all key stages and subjects
