Ofsted's report card, in its own words

What it's like to be a pupil at Talbot Primary School

Pupils are proud to be part of Talbot Primary School. They attend well, make good progress in their learning, feel supported by staff and enjoy lessons. Pupils appreciate the diversity in their community and the richness this brings to their experiences at school. Pupils value the individual help and attention that they receive. Leaders get to know pupils well and use the information they gather carefully to ensure that every pupil benefits fully from all aspects of school life. This includes disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Pupils are fully prepared for life after school. They enjoy a wide range of additional opportunities that successfully support their wider learning and enhance the curriculum. For example, pupils value the residential trips that develop their independence and resilience. The school celebrates pupils' individual skills and interests. Extra-curricular activities, such as the annual 'Arts night', provide a platform for pupils to extend these. The personal development programme is carefully thought through. It supports pupils to get on well with others and helps them to understand more about their own emotions, thoughts and feelings. This makes a significant contribution to pupils' readiness for secondary school. Pupils work hard in academic subjects. They know staff have high expectations of them, and they rise to these. Overall, pupils achieve well. For example, in national tests in reading, writing and mathematics at the end of Year 6, pupils' achievement is consistently in line with and, in some areas, above national averages. Relationships between pupils and staff are respectful and highly positive. Pupils know they are safe and well cared for at school. They understand the rules and routines in place to maintain a secure and friendly environment. Bullying is rare, and pupils trust staff to sort things out if friendship issues arise.
