Soudley School creates a warm, welcoming environment where every child feels they belong. Staff know pupils exceptionally well and provide skilled, individual support so all learners - including those with additional needs - can access the full curriculum and make good progress. The school's strong focus on inclusion, behaviour and wellbeing means pupils are happy, attend regularly, and develop confidence and respect for one another.
Key Strengths
- Strong inclusive culture where all pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, access the same ambitious curriculum
- Excellent behaviour and attendance with a calm, orderly environment where politeness is the norm
- Effective early reading and phonics teaching with strong foundations built from Reception onwards
- Warm pastoral support and leadership that puts pupils at the centre of every decision
- Broad range of enrichment opportunities and clubs accessible to all pupils, including disadvantaged learners
Areas for Improvement
- Some errors in writing and gaps in pupil knowledge are not always corrected or addressed in lessons
- Published phonics and achievement outcomes do not always reflect the quality of current teaching
- Pupils' knowledge of some PSHE topics, relationships, different cultures and religions is not yet as secure as intended
- Further strengthening needed in pupils' writing foundations, including handwriting
