Ofsted Insights

From Ofsted's July 2025 inspection report.

What This School Does Well

Pupils are happy, proud of their school and achieve well in lessons and national tests. The school has created a calm, orderly environment where children behave well and feel safe, with effective support for reading and strong pastoral care. Staff go above and beyond to support individual children's learning needs.

Key Strengths

  • Pupils achieve well in their learning with high staff expectations and effective teaching in core subjects like mathematics, English and geography
  • Strong behaviour, attendance and a calm, orderly school environment where pupils feel safe and trusted
  • Effective support for pupils with reading through phonics checks and helping pupils catch up, with promotion of reading for pleasure

Areas for Improvement

  • Governors do not challenge and support school leaders effectively enough, and information is not always shared with them in a timely way
  • Communication with some parents is poor, particularly when they raise concerns about their child's support or special educational needs
  • In some foundation subjects, core knowledge that pupils should learn has not been identified clearly enough, causing variation in what pupils know and remember
  • Safeguarding records do not always capture all actions taken to keep pupils safe or communications with other professionals

Safeguarding

Safeguarding arrangements are effective, with staff knowing the community and potential risks well, but internal records do not consistently capture all actions taken to keep children safe or communications with other professionals.

Extracurricular Activities

Performing arts clubs, sports clubs, crafts clubs, residential trips, breakfast club, library access

Rawmarsh Rosehill Junior School is a calm and orderly school where pupils enjoy learning and achieve well, including in national tests. However, some aspects of leadership and governance need to improve.
