Ofsted Insights

From Ofsted's January 2025 inspection report.

What This School Does Well

This is a welcoming small school where children are known well and cared for by staff who listen to their concerns. Pupils develop strong reading skills from the start and learn through a well-planned curriculum that builds their knowledge step-by-step. The school successfully nurtures each child's talents through sporting competitions, visits and leadership opportunities while promoting kindness and responsibility.

  • Strong reading culture with effective phonics teaching - pupils read confidently with fluency and expression
  • Effective systems for identifying and supporting pupils with special educational needs - they learn alongside peers and achieve well
  • Positive behaviour and respectful relationships throughout the school - classrooms are calm and purposeful
  • Established approaches to personal development including learning about different faiths and cultures

Areas for Improvement

  • Assessment checks occasionally lack precision, meaning some gaps in pupils' knowledge go unnoticed and slow progress through the curriculum
