What This School Does Well

Northfield Road is a genuinely inclusive school that puts every child's needs first. Staff build warm relationships with pupils and deliver strong teaching in reading, writing and maths, with particular success in helping disadvantaged pupils and those with additional needs achieve well. The school creates a calm, respectful environment where pupils feel valued, safe and confident to learn.

Key Strengths

  • Strong focus on reading, writing and mathematics with effective teaching of phonics, grammar and mathematical fluency
  • Excellent support for disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs - they achieve better than similar groups nationally
  • Calm, respectful school environment with very good behaviour and rare incidents of bullying
  • Effective attendance improvements, especially for disadvantaged pupils and those with additional needs
  • Inclusive culture where all pupils can access clubs, visits and enrichment activities
