Newington is a nurturing, well-run school where children feel safe, behave well and are encouraged to achieve. The school has successfully improved reading outcomes and made positive changes to the curriculum, particularly in English and maths. Your child will benefit from strong teaching, clear routines from Nursery onwards, and plenty of enrichment activities including theatre trips and school clubs.

Key Strengths

  • Well-designed, ambitious curriculum from Nursery to Year 6 with clear identification of essential knowledge
  • Strong emphasis on reading with effective phonics teaching - majority of pupils now fluent readers by end of Key Stage 1
  • Excellent nurturing environment where pupils behave well, feel safe and are supported with their emotional needs
  • Staff have secure subject knowledge and adapt teaching to meet all pupils' needs, including those with SEND
