What This School Does Well

Moor Allerton Hall creates a caring, welcoming community where children feel safe and develop strong values including respect and kindness. The school has transformed reading teaching and effectively uses additional funding to support disadvantaged pupils and those with special needs. Children get off to a strong start in early years with good phonics teaching and progress well.

Key Strengths

  • Strong leadership team committed to improvement with clear vision and support from governors
  • Pupils' behaviour, personal development and welfare are good with a caring school culture
  • Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is highly effective, preparing pupils well for modern Britain
  • Early years provision is good with effective phonics teaching
  • Effective use of additional funding to support disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs

Areas for Improvement

  • Teaching quality is inconsistent across classes and subjects, particularly in key stage 2
  • Teachers' expectations are too low, especially for middle-ability pupils
  • Teachers do not use pupil progress information effectively to plan tasks at the right level
  • Subject leadership monitoring is not thorough enough outside English and mathematics
  • Pupils' progress in English and mathematics is not consistent enough given their strong start in early years

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is effective with stringent staff checks, regular training for all staff and governors, strong systems for supporting vulnerable children, and pupils feeling safe at school.

Extracurricular Activities

Drama, musical activities, sporting activities, mini-mermaids running club, Year 6 Houses of Parliament visit, residentials, visits

Moor Allerton Hall Primary School requires improvement following staff changes and inconsistent progress across classes. The school has a caring culture and good early years provision, but teaching quality and pupil outcomes need to become more consistent.
