From the headteacher's welcome: "Liverpool College is a unique academy, so visitors tell us. They profess that there is a “buzz”, a sense of purpose, and a distinctive ethos about the place. We agree. The College, a state funded academy, educates approximately 1700 pupils aged 4-19 on a 28 acre campus in South Liverpool."

The school runs a breakfast club from 7:30am and after-school care until 5:30pm, from £6 per day.

In 2026, pupils at Liverpool College averaged an Attainment 8 score of 50.6, the average grade across their best eight GCSEs. The average state school scored 42.8 in Liverpool and 47 across England.

57% passed English and maths at grade 5 or above, against 38% in Liverpool and 47% in England.

That is down from 55.1 in 2025.

Its most recent Progress 8 score, for 2024, was 0.29: pupils made above average progress compared with pupils nationally who started secondary school at the same level. Progress 8 was not published for 2026.

Pupils sat GCSEs in 24 subjects; after English and maths, the most popular were Combined Science, Geography and Spanish.

For September 2026 entry, 317 families put Liverpool College as their first choice and 1668 named it as one of their preferences, for 164 places offered. That is 1.9 first choices for every place. 171 families who put it first were not offered a place there.

Of the 147 pupils who finished Year 11 in 2023/24, 88% stayed in education or training for at least two terms, including 18% to a further education college, 3% to an apprenticeship and 1% into work.

Of the 139 students who left the sixth form in 2023/24, 63% went on to university or other higher education, 2% to apprenticeships and 14% into work. 30% went to one of the most selective third of universities.

16.6% of pupils are eligible for free school meals, well below the average state school (25%), and 12% speak English as an additional language, against 18.8% on average, according to the 2026 school census.

The largest ethnic groups are White British (59%), Mixed (11%) and Asian (7%).
