Legh Vale is a welcoming school where children thrive in a supportive community. Teachers work hard to help all pupils succeed, including those with additional needs, and pupils show outstanding behaviour and excellent relationships with each other. The school offers a rich range of learning experiences beyond the classroom, from specialist sports coaching to music lessons and residential trips.

Key Strengths

  • Pupils achieve well with above-average attainment in English and mathematics by Year 6
  • Behaviour is outstanding and pupils have very positive attitudes with excellent relationships
  • Strong support for pupils with special educational needs and disadvantaged pupils helps them make good progress
  • Leadership provides clear direction and has secured recent improvements in teaching quality
  • Rich curriculum enriched by music, drama, French, sports coaching and regular trips

  • Teaching is not yet outstanding - work is not always set at the right level to challenge all pupils
