What This School Does Well

Hanson Academy has transformed significantly, creating an inclusive environment where pupils feel safe and proud to attend. The school excels at supporting all learners, particularly those with additional needs, and has strengthened pupil behaviour and attendance. Staff are highly ambitious for every child and provide excellent opportunities for career exploration, including apprenticeships, helping pupils think about their future beyond academics.

  • Ambitious curriculum combining academic and vocational options with good subject knowledge teaching

Areas for Improvement

  • Some older pupils have significant knowledge gaps from poor prior attendance - strategies to address these are still in early stages of implementation
  • Sixth form curriculum implementation and student guidance are not yet consistently embedded, affecting some students' progress
