  • Extra-curricular provision is excellent, particularly music, with frequent educational visits and clubs
  • Safeguarding arrangements are effective with clear policies and good knowledge of families
  • Pupils are happy, safe and polite with positive behaviour around the school

Areas for Improvement

  • Many teachers lack secure understanding of the new curriculum subjects they teach, affecting pupil learning
  • Behaviour routines in classrooms are inconsistently applied by staff, leading to low-level disruptions
  • Early years staff need better skills in language and communication development with children
  • Early years environment and outdoor play area do not match the curriculum intent

Safeguarding

Safeguarding arrangements are effective, with leaders knowing families well, clear policies in place, and staff alert to signs of harm and trained in procedures.

Extracurricular Activities

Music provision, educational visits to museums and local parks, allotments visits, wide range of clubs and activities

Coppetts Wood Primary School requires improvement overall. The school was last judged Outstanding 12 years ago, but this inspection found that while pupils are happy and safe, the new curriculum and teaching quality need strengthening.
