Ofsted's report card from its 20 January 2026 inspection grades Beverley Grammar School on 7 areas: 3 strong standard and 4 expected standard. Report cards replaced single-word judgements in November 2025, on a five-point scale from exceptional to urgent improvement.

Personal development and wellbeing - Strong standard. "Leaders want all pupils to develop their confidence, ambition, resilience and empathy during their time at school and to ensure that staff and pupils ‘care'."

Achievement - Expected standard. "Pupils, including pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, typically achieve well."

Curriculum and teaching - Expected standard. "The curriculum is broad and balanced."

Leadership and governance - Expected standard. "The interests of pupils and their families are at the forefront of all decisions made by leaders and staff."

Post 16 provision - Expected standard. "The post-16 provision, delivered in partnership with the local girls' school, offers an entirely academic pathway designed to suit the local context."

Safeguarding standards were met.

These include Thomas Percy, the infamous gunpowder plotter, through renowned scholars, clergy, film directors, military personnel, industrialists and scientists, to esteemed sportsmen."

In 2026, pupils at Beverley Grammar School averaged an Attainment 8 score of 52.6, the average grade across their best eight GCSEs. The average state school scored 45.1 in East Riding of Yorkshire and 47 across England.

59% passed English and maths at grade 5 or above, against 43% in East Riding of Yorkshire and 47% in England.

Pupils sat GCSEs in 25 subjects; after English and maths, the most popular were Combined Science, History and Geography.

For September 2026 entry, 147 families put Beverley Grammar School as their first choice and 210 named it as one of their preferences, for 139 places offered. That is 1.1 first choices for every place. 10 families who put it first were not offered a place there.

109 parents answered Ofsted's Parent View survey about Beverley Grammar School (as of April 2026): 85% would recommend the school, 81% say their child is happy there and 87% of those with a view say bullying is dealt with well.

The strongest agreement was that the school deals with bullying well (among parents with a view) (87%); the weakest, that they are kept well informed about progress (79%).

Of the 139 pupils who finished Year 11 in 2023/24, 86% stayed in education or training for at least two terms, including 25% to a further education college, 4% to an apprenticeship and 3% into work.

Of the 54 students who left the sixth form in 2023/24, 70% went on to university or other higher education, 4% to apprenticeships and 13% into work. 19% went to one of the most selective third of universities.

4.2% speak English as an additional language, against 18.8% on average, according to the 2026 school census.

In 2026, 90 pupils (10.9%) received SEN support and 54 (6.5%) had an education, health and care plan, against 16.2% and 4.6% at the average state school. The most common need among them is autism.
