What is it like to attend this early years setting?
All children thrive in this exceptional nursery where staff put children at the heart of everything they do. Staff warmly welcome children and families as they arrive. They build strong relationships with parents, and work together to provide the best outcomes for children. Children demonstrate a high level of understanding about what emotions mean and what might influence how they are feeling. Staff talk to children about their emotions, and use picture cards for younger children or children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Children say when they feel sad or angry and, with staff encouragement, they think of what will make them feel happy again.
Children demonstrate superb attitudes to learning. Staff create a positive, calm and stimulating learning environment for children. This helps children of all ages to remain focused, engaged and enthused to learn. Staff know each and every child exceptionally well. They listen very carefully to children's ideas and respond enthusiastically. Children beam with excitement as staff help to extend and create their ideas in play. For example, they squeal with joy as staff turn the room into a sensory exploration of the planets, with telescopes, torches and light projectors.
Leaders create an ambitious and inspiring curriculum that incorporates children's individual interests. Staff interactions with children are of a consistently high quality. Staff go above and beyond to ensure that children with SEND are included at all times. They focus very precisely on what children need to learn next to continue to build on their existing skills and knowledge. Leaders use additional funding to provide resources to support every child to make exceptional progress across the curriculum.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
- Staff provide a highly ambitious, broad and rich curriculum for all children. It is clearly sequenced, planned and delivered to help children build on prior knowledge, deepen their understanding and rapidly acquire new language. For example, staff support babies to crawl and stand by using gentle encouragement and offering exciting activities within their reach. They superbly teach babies how to make different sounds while exploring books and singing rhymes. Babies faces light up as they point and listen to the sounds in nature, such as bird song, dogs and rustling leaves.
- All staff have the highest expectations of children, including children with SEND. Experienced staff expertly adapt their teaching and practice so that all children benefit from an inclusive and challenging curriculum. They implement precisely targeted plans to support children with SEND to close the identified gaps in learning and development. For example, staff provide one-to-one time and resources such as a sensory 'peanut ball', tunnels and stepping stones to offer sensory comfort and core-muscle training.
- Staff effortlessly present learning in a fun, engaging way. They expertly use questioning and allow children to explore for themselves, providing them with a greater understanding and improving problem-solving skills. Throughout the day, children remain purposefully engaged and highly motivated. For example, older children concentrate intently as they mix paint to create new colours. They exclaim in awe, 'Look! Yellow and red make orange!' Babies focus for long periods on jigsaw puzzles. Staff praise them as they persevere, slowly and carefully rotating the pieces until they fit.
- Children have consistently high levels of respect for others. Staff are excellent role models, demonstrating kindness and care towards children. Older children help their younger friends to complete certain tasks. Furthermore, they spontaneously praise and cuddle younger children for achieving new skills. Staff support children to understand about the rules for behaviour, and children show an excellent understanding when using a 'good choices' book for the garden.
- Staff support children well to develop their confidence and independence. Children relish in being the 'leader of the day'. They enjoy choosing some resources and sharing their interests and ideas with their friends. Staff help and encourage children to listen to each other and to share their news from home.
- Leadership and management are extremely strong. Leaders are reflective and constantly evaluate practice, using feedback from parents and other professionals to continually develop and improve the provision.
- Parents are included in every part of their children's learning. They report feeling valued and listened to and particularly appreciate the shared ideas for furthering their child's development at home. Parents contribute ideas for their children's goals and achievements and how these can be supported. This brilliantly supports continuity of learning for every child.

Ofsted grades before November 2025 (England)
Inspections before November 2025 gave one overall grade on a four-point scale: Outstanding, Good, Requires improvement, Inadequate. Ofsted also graded the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management, and said whether safeguarding was effective.
Settings keep their last grade until Ofsted visits again, so many nurseries still show a grade from this older scale.
