What This School Does Well

XP East has invested significantly in improving how teachers deliver lessons and what pupils learn. The school has created clear plans for each subject so teachers know exactly what knowledge to teach, and is helping pupils build vocabulary and explain their thinking clearly. Teachers work together as a team to share best practice and receive support to grow in confidence.

Key Strengths

  • Curriculum has been carefully planned with clear sequences of learning and links between subjects
  • Reading programme refined with commercial programmes to identify and support pupils who need help
  • Teachers receive regular training and feedback through the 'ACDC' lesson approach and walkthrough system
  • Pupils report positive relationships with teachers and feel supported to succeed
  • External exam results are beginning to improve

Areas for Improvement

  • More work needed to support pupils who struggle to decode texts
  • Implementation of curriculum changes is still in early stages
  • Ensuring all pupils benefit fully from the wider curriculum experiences while performing well in external exams

Extracurricular Activities

Expeditions, visits to lessons

XP East is a school not in a category of concern that has made progress since its last inspection in June 2024. Leaders have completed significant work on the curriculum and reading programme, though some aspects still need further improvement.
