Ofsted Insights

What This School Does Well

Wroxton is a welcoming school where children feel safe and happy. Staff provide expert support in reading and writing from the early years, helping all pupils become confident learners. The school goes beyond academics, offering a broad curriculum with sporting opportunities, visits to different places of worship, and leadership roles that help children understand and engage with the world around them.

Key Strengths

  • Strong, inclusive school culture with clear values of love, compassion and courage that pupils embrace
  • Excellent reading programme with expert staff training and catch-up activities helping pupils become fluent, confident readers
  • Effective support for pupils with special educational needs and disadvantaged pupils, with staff making precise adaptations to learning
  • Good behaviour management with warm, happy atmosphere where pupils feel safe and ready to learn
  • Wide range of enrichment experiences including visits to places of worship, sports participation, and leadership opportunities

Areas for Improvement

  • In some wider curriculum subjects, the school does not routinely check what pupils have remembered, meaning misconceptions and knowledge gaps are not identified
  • Pupils do not build successfully on their learning in some subjects and do not achieve as well as they could
  • Need to establish systems to check pupils' understanding before moving to more complex learning

Safeguarding

Safeguarding arrangements are effective with the school creating an open and positive culture that puts pupils' interests first.

Extracurricular Activities

Athletics, indoor bowls, eco-team, school council, play champions, healthy relationships project, visits to Hindu temple and mosque

Wroxton Church of England Primary School has maintained good standards since its previous inspection. The school has a strong, inclusive ethos where pupils enjoy coming to school and staff demonstrate high expectations for behaviour and academic achievement.
