Children in the early years, despite only being in school a very short time, have already formed positive relationships with the staff who work with them. Children are keen to learn. They start their day following simple routines and instructions in a positive way. Pupils have made suggestions to enrich the offer of extra-curricular activities, and leaders have listened to these ideas. Pupils can learn to crochet or make models. These help to develop new interests. Furthermore, they show positive citizenship skills. For instance, some pupils serve as buddies to children in the early years.

  • Leaders should ensure that teachers check what pupils know and can do before moving learning on so that any misconceptions are addressed promptly.
  • Leaders should continue to embed their behaviour curriculum so that pupils enjoy their social times aware of those around them.
  • Leaders should secure greater consistency in staff's high-quality interactions in the early years so that children further develop their communication and language skills.
