The school excels at promoting respect, tolerance and understanding of different cultures, and offers excellent enrichment opportunities through numerous after-school clubs and residential experiences. Staff are caring and supportive, working closely with families to provide additional help for vulnerable pupils.
Key Strengths

- Strong relationships between adults, parents and pupils create a proud school community
- School works well with outside agencies to support vulnerable pupils
- Excellent promotion of tolerance and understanding of different cultures to prepare pupils for modern Britain
- Extensive after-school clubs including residential experiences with high participation rates
Areas for Improvement
- Teaching does not consistently challenge pupils, especially the most able, to make as much progress as they could
- Pupil premium spending is not monitored rigorously enough to ensure disadvantaged pupils make accelerated progress
- Attendance patterns have not been analysed sharply enough, with high absence levels limiting some pupils' progress
- Assessment information is not used effectively to set challenging targets that accelerate progress
- Leadership responsibilities are not clearly defined, limiting accountability for improving pupil outcomes
Safeguarding
Safeguarding arrangements are effective, with all staff understanding their responsibility to protect pupils and pupils confident in reporting concerns to trusted adults.
Extracurricular Activities
After-school clubs, residential experiences, sports activities
Woodgate Primary School requires improvement overall. The recently appointed headteacher has good understanding of the school community and staff morale is high, but leaders have not focused sufficiently on the right priorities to drive pupil progress.
