Areas for Improvement
- Assessment of pupils' understanding is variable - some teachers don't always gain precise information about what pupils have learned, so activities aren't always adapted appropriately
- Need to improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and increase the number of pupils achieving greater depth in writing
- Monitoring of support systems for pupils with special educational needs is still developing
- Teachers' questioning in early years and some classes could better deepen children's thinking
