What This School Does Well

Tudor Primary School excels in mathematics teaching using structured, visual and practical methods that help all learners progress well. Behaviour and safety are strong, with pupils enjoying school and forming positive relationships. The school does particularly well in art and physical education, and is improving rapidly at Key Stage 2.

Key Strengths

  • Leaders have a clear understanding of the school and are driving improvements effectively
  • Achievement in mathematics, art and physical education is good
  • Pupils behave well, feel safe and have positive relationships with each other
  • Marking has improved significantly since the last inspection
  • Mathematics teaching is effective with well-structured, visual and practical resources

Areas for Improvement

  • Teaching quality varies between classes - activities are sometimes too easy or too difficult for pupils
  • Writing achievement is slow, especially in Nursery and Key Stage 1
  • Teaching assistants are not always deployed effectively to support learning
  • More able pupils sometimes have to wait for others, slowing their progress
  • Teacher instructions are not always clear enough, particularly for newer staff

Safeguarding

Safeguarding arrangements are effective with pupils feeling safe and positive relationships maintained throughout the school.

Tudor Primary School requires improvement overall, though leadership is driving positive developments. Achievement across pupils is uneven, with particular concerns about writing progress in early years and Key Stage 1.
