What This School Does Well

The Reddings is a welcoming school where children are happy, safe, and feel included. The school excels at teaching reading through daily phonics lessons matched to each child's level, with parent guidance to support learning at home. Children benefit from strong pastoral care, well-planned lessons that build knowledge step-by-step, and a wide range of clubs, sports, and trips that enrich their education.

Key Strengths

  • Strong phonics teaching and reading support from Nursery onwards, helping pupils learn to read fluently
  • Well-sequenced curriculum across subjects that builds knowledge cumulatively as pupils progress
  • Excellent pastoral support and personal development, with strong focus on well-being and mental health
  • Effective support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities
  • Extensive extra-curricular opportunities and educational experiences for all pupils

Areas for Improvement

  • In a few subjects, teaching does not always make the most important knowledge explicit or check that pupils remember it, leading to gaps in understanding
  • Teachers should ensure key knowledge is clearly identified in all subjects and taught in ways that help pupils build on previous learning

Safeguarding

Safeguarding arrangements are effective, with the school creating an open and positive culture that puts pupils' interests first.

Extracurricular Activities

Football, yoga, singing, residential experiences for older pupils, breakfast club

The Reddings Primary School has effectively maintained the good standards from its previous inspection in May 2019. The school provides a welcoming, inclusive environment where pupils are happy, safe, and supported to achieve academically and develop personally.
