Ofsted's report card from its 15 April 2026 inspection grades The Latymer School on 7 areas: 6 strong standard and 1 expected standard. Report cards replaced single-word judgements in November 2025, on a five-point scale from exceptional to urgent improvement.

Leadership and governance - Strong standard. "Leaders and those responsible for governance have a clear and accurate understanding of the strengths of the school."

Personal development and wellbeing - Strong standard. "Leaders have a strategic approach to supporting pupils' personal development."

Post 16 provision - Strong standard. "Leaders ensure that students in the sixth form receive an ambitious and well-planned curriculum and that they learn this curriculum very well."

Curriculum and teaching - Expected standard. "Across subjects and year groups, leaders have designed and implemented a curriculum that supports pupils to successfully progress on to aspirational next steps."

Safeguarding standards were met.

Ofsted's next steps for the school: "Leaders should embed approaches for checking pupils' understanding and ensure that teaching consistently sets activities that enable pupils to optimise how deeply they understand subject content"; "Leaders should continue, and as necessary refine, the school's work to identify and address any potential gaps in personal development opportunities, especially for those pupils joining the school after the start of Year 7".

In 2026, pupils at The Latymer School averaged an Attainment 8 score of 80.9, the average grade across their best eight GCSEs. The average state school scored 47.5 in Enfield and 47 across England.

99% passed English and maths at grade 5 or above, against 47% in Enfield and 47% in England.

That is in line with 2025, when the score was 80.1.

Its most recent Progress 8 score, for 2024, was 0.74: pupils made well above average progress compared with pupils nationally who started secondary school at the same level. Progress 8 was not published for 2026.

Disadvantaged pupils averaged an Attainment 8 of 74.1, against 81.5 for other pupils at the school - a gap of 7.4 points.

Pupils sat GCSEs in 21 subjects; after English and maths, the most popular were Physics, Biology and Chemistry.

The Latymer School is a grammar school: places go to children who reach the required standard in its entrance test, and only then are the oversubscription criteria applied.

For September 2026 entry, 339 families put The Latymer School as their first choice and 917 named it as one of their preferences, for 192 places offered. That is 1.8 first choices for every place. 186 families who put it first were not offered a place there.
