The school goes beyond exam preparation to support each child as an individual, with particular strength in caring for pupils with special educational needs. With high attendance, excellent behaviour, and a wealth of enrichment activities, pupils develop into ambitious, well-rounded young people ready for their futures.

Key Strengths

  • Pupils achieve highly across the curriculum with particularly strong examination results at key stage 4 and excellent support for pupils with special educational needs
  • Impressively high attendance rates for all groups of pupils, with a strong sense of belonging and positive school culture
  • Extensive personal development programme focused on developing ambitious, respectful and responsible citizens
  • Warm and welcoming environment with embedded culture of respect, independence and pride
  • Comprehensive 'brighter futures' programme offering a huge range of opportunities in arts, sports and clubs

Areas for Improvement

  • Teaching of literacy and oracy skills is not yet consistent across all areas of the school
  • Further work needed to ensure curriculum is taught as well as intended, particularly in key stage 3
  • Some staff need clearer understanding of specific adaptive practices needed for pupils with SEND and disadvantaged pupils in lessons
