What This School Does Well

The school has made recent progress in improving behaviour and creating a calm, respectful environment where pupils follow daily routines well. Staff have developed better expertise to support pupils with emotional and behavioural needs. The school works well with parents to shape support for pupils with SEND and engages appropriately with external agencies.

Key Strengths

  • School feels safe, calm, orderly and respectful with improved behaviour standards
  • Safeguarding standards are met with an open culture where concerns are actively managed
  • Staff have developed expertise to support pupils with emotional and behavioural needs
  • School engages well with parents regarding SEND support
  • Recent actions to improve behaviour have been effective

Areas for Improvement

  • Pupils' attainment in reading, writing and maths is well below national standards
  • Attendance is low, particularly for disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND
  • Support for pupils with SEND is variable and does not enable them to catch up
  • Teaching expectations are too low across the school
  • Early years provision does not secure essential knowledge in communication, reading, writing and number

Safeguarding

Safeguarding standards are met - leaders have established an open culture where safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and pupils are made safer and feel safe.

Extracurricular Activities

Circle time with golden rules, visits to local residential home, food parcel delivery in community, school clubs, educational visits

Seascape Primary School requires special measures as it is failing to provide an acceptable standard of education. Leaders and those responsible for governance are not demonstrating the capacity to secure necessary improvement.
