- In some subjects, staff don't regularly check what pupils have remembered before moving to more complex learning, meaning gaps in understanding aren't always spotted
- Writing skills are not yet strong enough - not enough pupils are writing at the level expected for their age
- Some pupils have gaps in letter formation and spelling that aren't addressed quickly enough
