Achievement - Expected standard. "In phonics, most pupils make progress and achieve well from very low starting points."

Attendance and behaviour - Expected standard. "Leaders work tirelessly to ensure that pupils attend school regularly and on time."

Curriculum and teaching - Expected standard. "Leaders have a clear understanding of the quality of teaching throughout the school."

Early years - Expected standard. "Children make a positive start to school life in the early years."

Leadership and governance - Expected standard. "School leaders have a clear and ambitious vision for the school."

Personal development and wellbeing - Expected standard. "The school provides an effective and well-structured programme to promote pupils' personal development."

Safeguarding standards were met.

Ofsted's next steps for the school: "• Leaders should ensure that independent learning activities and adult support are consistently and carefully matched to pupils' needs to maintain engagement and reduce off-task behaviour. • Leaders should ensure that regular checks on learning are used effectively to ensure that pupils are able to remember key learning and subject-specific vocabulary".

For September 2026 entry, 36 families put Race Leys Infant School as their first choice and 102 named it as one of their preferences, for 43 places offered. It had fewer first-choice applications than places. Every family who put it first was offered a place there for 2026 entry.

23 parents answered Ofsted's Parent View survey about Race Leys Infant School (as of April 2026): 87% would recommend the school, 87% say their child is happy there and 80% of those with a view say bullying is dealt with well.

The strongest agreement was that they would recommend the school (87%); the weakest, that they are kept well informed about progress (70%).

42.6% of pupils are eligible for free school meals, well above the average state school (25%), and 8.8% speak English as an additional language, against 18.8% on average, according to the 2026 school census.
