What This School Does Well

The school excels at creating a warm, caring environment where every child feels valued and safe. Teachers are highly skilled at designing creative, engaging lessons tailored to each pupil's complex needs, using music, drama and art to make learning enjoyable. All pupils, including the most disadvantaged, make good progress because staff know them exceptionally well and work as excellent teams to support their learning and development.

Key Strengths

  • Excellent relationships and pastoral care - staff are exceptionally caring and pupils feel safe and valued
  • Good progress for all pupils from their starting points, including disadvantaged pupils who make as good or better progress than peers nationally
  • Creative and engaging teaching with excellent use of music, drama and art to make learning fun and interesting
  • Strong teamwork between teachers and support staff with high expectations for what pupils can achieve
  • Well-designed structured activities that meet complex needs, including those with autism and profound learning difficulties

Areas for Improvement

  • Not all teachers plan learning accurately using detailed knowledge of each pupil's starting point or review progress precisely with pupils and support staff throughout the day
  • Outstanding teaching practices are not shared widely enough across the whole school through coaching and mentoring

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is effective - pupils know they are safe, understand security procedures like checking visitors' badges, and show great trust in staff who keep them safe.

Extracurricular Activities

Duke of Edinburgh Award, café work experience, public transport training, gardening at The Royal Parks, music, drama, art

Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee School is a good special school where all pupils have statements of special educational needs. The school is characterised by excellent relationships, caring staff, and strong partnerships with parents and the wider community.
