Ofsted's report card from its 3 March 2026 inspection grades Orgill Primary School on 7 areas: 6 expected standard and 1 needs attention. Report cards replaced single-word judgements in November 2025, on a five-point scale from exceptional to urgent improvement.

Attendance and behaviour - Expected standard. "Leaders set high expectations for attendance."

Curriculum and teaching - Expected standard. "Through their evaluation of the curriculum, leaders have made recent improvements to the content and sequencing."

Early years - Expected standard. "Children in the early years settle in quickly."

Inclusion - Expected standard. "Leaders know the pupils and their families well."

Leadership and governance - Expected standard. "Leaders analyse a range of information to identify what the school does well and where it can improve further."

Personal development and wellbeing - Expected standard. "Leaders have created a rich and varied programme of activities for pupils' personal development."

Achievement - Needs attention. "Recent weaknesses in the curriculum and its implementation mean too many pupils in Year 6 leave the school lacking the skills and knowledge that they need for secondary school."

Safeguarding standards were met.

Ofsted's next steps for the school: "Leaders should ensure that they work swiftly to close any remaining gaps in pupils' knowledge, particularly older pupils, so that pupils achieve well and are well prepared for the next stage in their education"; "Leaders should check closely that learning activities consistently support pupils to learn and remember intended knowledge, so that pupils continue to build and connect new learning on firm and secure foundations"; "Governors should check that new members of the governing body continue to develop a strong understanding of all of the school's statutory responsibilities, so that they can satisfy themselves that these are appropriately enacted".

From the headteacher's welcome: "Orgill has been part of my life for many years. I attended the school as a child and returned in 2006 as a newly qualified teacher. Since then, I have had the privilege of growing alongside the school, and I am incredibly proud to now serve as Headteacher. This is a school where children and families belong."

Clubs and activities named on the school's website include recorder, gardening and cheerleading.

In 2025, 63% of Year 6 pupils at Orgill Primary School reached the expected standard in reading and 59% in maths. At the average state primary the figures were 73% and 70% in Cumberland and 77% and 75% across England.

Results fell from 72% in reading and 59% in maths in 2024.
