Oak Tree has done an excellent job bringing together two schools and their communities into a united, caring environment where pupils feel safe and respected. The school offers a rich curriculum with specialist teachers and regular enrichment activities that engage pupils. Strong leadership in mathematics is delivering good results in this subject, and the school shows genuine commitment to supporting its most vulnerable learners.

- School leaders have successfully united staff, parents, governors and pupils from the two predecessor schools, with the headteacher gaining community confidence and trust
- Pupils are safe and well cared for, with strong respect for diversity and different faiths
- Strong leadership in mathematics is improving teaching quality, with pupils enjoying mathematical challenges
- Broad and balanced curriculum enriched by specialist teachers and regular school visits
- Good care taken of vulnerable pupils and those with special educational needs during the transition
Areas for Improvement
- Teaching, learning and assessment remain inconsistent - too many pupils made slower progress than expected, particularly in reading and writing
- Leadership checks on teaching quality are insufficient, and middle leaders do not yet have enough influence on improving teaching across the school
- Too few pupils met expected standards in phonics, and attainment at the end of key stage 2 in reading, writing and maths was below national average
- Teachers' expectations of what pupils can achieve are too low, and learning is often too slow
- Support for disadvantaged pupils is not well-targeted to their specific needs, and impact is not being evaluated
