What This School Does Well

This is a caring, family-focused school where every child feels valued and included. Teachers know pupils well and tailor learning to their needs, whether they find reading easy or need extra support. The school works closely with families to remove barriers to learning and celebrates pupils' progress from their starting points.

Key Strengths

  • Highly effective phonics teaching helps pupils become fluent readers, with Year 1 phonics screening results above national average
  • Strong attendance and behaviour, with pupils showing integrity and positive attitudes to learning
  • Inclusive approach with personalised support for pupils with additional needs, including those with SEND and from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Well-designed early years curriculum that builds children's language, literacy and independence
  • Caring school culture where staff are well-supported and parents feel the school supports whole families

Areas for Improvement

  • Teaching of writing and handwriting is less consistent - some pupils who struggle with letter or number formation need more routine practice opportunities
  • Leaders' evaluation of their work sometimes lacks depth, making it harder to know which strategies work best and when to adapt them
  • Tracking of disadvantaged pupils' progress is not always detailed enough to show precisely where support has had the greatest impact

Extracurricular Activities

Junior road safety officers, projects with military charities, assembly visitors, water safety visits from lifeguards, play therapy, sensory circuits
