What This School Does Well
Moldgreen is a happy, well-behaved school where pupils are polite and eager to learn. The school has particularly strong writing at Key Stage 2, excellent early years provision, and very low bullying rates. With a new leadership team that is stabilising the school and driving improvements, parents can expect to see continued progress.

- Pupils' writing is impressive, especially at the end of Key Stage 2 where pupils use rich vocabulary and varied sentence structures
- Behaviour is excellent - pupils are polite, courteous and well-behaved both in lessons and at playtime
- Early years literacy provision is strong with children reading and writing simple sentences while having fun
- Leadership team has stabilised the school and is making positive changes to drive up attainment
- Strong governance with governors now keeping close eye on priorities and understanding national benchmarks
Areas for Improvement
- Pupils' progress in phonics in Key Stage 1 remains weak despite staff training
- Mathematics work is often too easy and does not challenge pupils sufficiently
- Middle leaders' impact on improving standards is still developing and not yet strong enough
- Pupils need better understanding of British values and sex and relationships education by end of Year 6

Safeguarding is effective with comprehensive staff training, strong communication between eight designated safeguarding leaders, detailed records, and thorough vetting procedures in place.
Moldgreen Community Primary School was judged good in December 2014 and remains good following this inspection in March 2019. The school has undergone significant leadership changes and is working to improve pupil progress, particularly in mathematics and phonics.
