Ofsted's report, in its own words

What is it like to attend this school?

Model Village Primary School is an inclusive and welcoming place in which to learn. Pupils appreciate the caring staff who always want the best for them. Pupils are happy and feel safe.

The school is aspirational for all its pupils. They study a wide range of interesting topics and books that enthuse them to learn new and ambitious vocabulary. They enjoy the enriching experiences the school provides. These include visiting an art gallery, meeting authors and sports people, and representing the school at sporting and arts events. These help to nurture pupils' interests and talents.

What does the school do well and what does it need to do better?

The school is ambitious for every child to receive the best possible education. There have been many staff changes during the past year. The school has worked alongside the trust to ensure that it continues to improve. This has included support to boost the capacity of the hardworking staff team.

Pupils learn from an engaging curriculum that covers a broad range of subjects. The school has identified the important knowledge that pupils need to know in all subjects. Changes to responsibilities, due to staff changes, have disrupted some checks on what is working well and what needs to change. In some foundation subjects, the school is not providing the precise support that staff need to teach these subjects consistently well. As a result, pupils do not achieve as highly as they could in some subjects.
