This school creates a truly welcoming and inclusive environment where all children, including those with additional needs, feel safe and valued. The school excels at nurturing children's personal development and wellbeing, supported by strong pastoral care and a calm, positive atmosphere. Reading is taught very well from the start, with most children becoming confident readers by the end of Year 2.

  • Highly inclusive approach with effective identification of additional needs for pupils with SEND

Areas for Improvement

  • Teachers do not consistently check pupils' understanding of taught knowledge well enough, leaving some pupils with knowledge gaps
  • In several subjects, the essential knowledge pupils should learn is not clear enough to teachers
  • Pupils with SEND sometimes lack opportunities to apply and extend their learning across the curriculum

Safeguarding

Safeguarding arrangements are effective.

Extracurricular Activities

Cookery club, gardening club, subject ambassadors, eco warriors, friendship tea with local church

Midhurst CofE Primary School is a highly inclusive school where pupils feel safe and welcomed, but the quality of education requires improvement because the curriculum is not fully developed and pupils are not achieving as well as they should.
