In its own words: "Meldrum Academy was opened by HRH The Princess Royal on the 3rd August 2002. It was a completely new Secondary School to cater for the needs of the growing village of Oldmeldrum and surrounding areas, and to relieve the strain at the time on Ellon and Inverurie Academies."
