What This School Does Well

This school creates a safe, kind environment where pupils thrive and work hard. Teachers bring learning to life with engaging lessons that help pupils persevere and think for themselves. The school goes beyond the basics to teach pupils about different faiths, democracy, and being active citizens - preparing them well for the wider world.

Key Strengths

  • Early reading and phonics are taught very well, with effective support helping struggling readers catch up quickly
  • Pupils behave well and are respectful, with staff using restorative conversations to help them learn from mistakes
  • The school provides an ambitious, well-sequenced curriculum that brings learning to life and engages pupils
  • Strong support for pupils with SEND, who are quickly identified and receive tailored help to succeed
  • Rich enrichment activities including clubs, fundraising, and learning about different faiths help pupils understand and respect difference

Areas for Improvement

  • Some subjects do not teach subject-specific skills in the best sequence, which limits how deeply pupils understand these areas
  • Teachers do not always give pupils enough time to practise problem-solving in mathematics, affecting the depth of their learning
  • Staff confidence in teaching problem-solving needs to be developed, with clearer guidance on when and how to teach it

Safeguarding

Safeguarding arrangements are effective, with a strong culture of vigilance where staff listen to and act on pupil concerns.

Extracurricular Activities

Needle and thread club, choir, coding club, netball club, fundraising activities, playground leader roles, curriculum ambassador roles

Malvern Parish CofE Primary School has maintained the good standards from its previous inspection. Pupils are proud of their school, feel safe, and achieve well in a supportive environment with high expectations.
