What This School Does Well
Lytham is a warm, caring school where children thrive in their relationships with staff. The school excels at teaching reading through specialist phonics training and provides excellent support for children with additional needs. Early years provision is particularly strong, giving children a confident start to their education.
Key Strengths
- Early years provision is good, with children receiving strong support to build confidence and independence
- Reading is taught very well through a high-quality phonics programme, with most pupils becoming fluent readers by end of Year 2
- Pupils behave well and attend school regularly, creating a positive learning environment
- Excellent support for pupils with SEND, who access the same learning as their peers
- Strong relationships between staff and pupils help them feel safe and supported

- Many foundation subjects have gaps in pupils' learning because previous curriculums were weak and these gaps have not been identified and fixed
