What This School Does Well
Langley Hall offers a wonderfully enriching education where every child learns to play a musical instrument and participates in trips and outdoor learning. The school creates a calm, welcoming environment where pupils behave well, feel safe and happy, and develop positive attitudes to learning. Staff go the extra mile to include all pupils and ensure they have the broad range of experiences needed to thrive.
Key Strengths
- All pupils learn a musical instrument with many participating in choir and orchestra, building confidence and teamwork
- Pupils demonstrate consistently positive behaviour and attitudes to learning in calm, purposeful classrooms
- Strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics are established from Reception Year onwards
- Safeguarding standards are met with an open culture where all staff share responsibility for keeping pupils safe
- Early years provision is effective, with children well-prepared for Year 1
Areas for Improvement
- Disadvantaged pupils do not achieve as well as they should in national tests and are sometimes less well-prepared for next steps
- Staff are often unclear about specific barriers to learning for disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND, limiting the effectiveness of support
- Leaders do not accurately measure the impact of their work, leaving them unclear about priorities for improvement
- Governors' oversight of statutory functions is not robust enough, and they do not challenge leaders' work with sufficient rigour
- Some pupils with SEND experience delays in processing education, health and care plans
Safeguarding
Safeguarding standards are met - leaders have established an open culture where safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and concerns are actively identified, acted upon and managed.
Extracurricular Activities
Choir, orchestra, musical instrument lessons, trips, outdoor learning
Langley Hall Primary Academy provides a broad and rich curriculum with strong behaviour and safeguarding standards. However, the school needs to improve how it supports disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs, as well as strengthen leadership's measurement of impact.
